Baranagar is a big place in North 24 Parganas. It is managed by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). This area includes Dunlop, Sinthee More and Belghoria. There are several residential projects nearby including Siddha Eden Lakeville, SK Royal Arcade and Blue Pearl Apartment.

Baranagar Road railway station serves this area and connects to Sealdah. BT Road connects major neighborhoods and employment centers in North Cal, such as the Salt Lake City IT Park. Dumdum International Airport is 12 km away via the Belghoria Expressway. Public and private bus services are also available here. Blue Line metro services are also available from Noapara MRT station (3 km).

Calcutta Public School, Central Modern School and Kid Zone School are some of the schools in the area. Baranagar Ramkrishna Mission Ashrama High School is one of the oldest schools here. The Indian Statistical Institute is also located in Paranagar. Baranagar State General Hospital, G Hospital and Shantipur Estate General Hospital are some of the few medical centers in the district. Local markets like Vikram AC Market and HLN Shoppers Stop provide essential goods to the residents.

Apart from industries in this area, it is also well connected to several IT/Business Parks located in Salt Lake Area V and New Town via BT road. Some of them include P.S.
