Navi Mumbai is a planned city located on the west coast of the Indian subcontinent, in the Konkan district of Maharashtra state in mainland India. The locality is part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The city is divided into two parts south Navi Mumbai and North Navi Mumbai. Agricultural and Koli communities live mainly in Navi Mumbai. Thane Belapur Marg and Palm Beach Marg are prime commercial and exclusive residential areas respectively. The average height of the city is 14 meters, excluding forest areas.
The area is home to several educational institutions offering a variety of courses including engineering, medicine, interior design and hospitality management. It has various recreational facilities like golf courses, a central park, and Pandavkada Falls in Kharghar. It has many quality restaurants and luxury hotels for overnight stays. There are many shopping malls. It has many best medical centers and hospitals like MITR Hospital in Kharghar 05 District, Fortis Hiranandani Hospital near Juhu Village, Juhu Nagar (Vashi), Apollo Hospital in Belapur and SRL Diagnostics in Kharghar, Panvel, Kamothe, Kalamboli, Kopar Center Khairane, Juhu Gaon, etc.
The city has an excellent public transport system with NMMT, the transport wing of NMMC providing buses, Mumbai Suburban Railway providing rail commuters and a large number of auto rickshaws for intra-nodal services. The Mumbai-Pune Expressway starts from Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai. Mumbai's suburban network covers most of the urban areas of the city.
