About Powai

Powai is a residential neighbourhood placed in central Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It is placed on the banks of Lake Powai and the hills of Vikhroli Parksite in the south-east, Chandivali in the south-west, L.B.S. Mary in the north-east, and Sanjay Gandhi National Park in the north, all surrounded by the lake. Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, it began to flourish in the 1950s with the development of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. As Mumbai's development moved northwards, it witnessed significant development in the last three decades and has now become a major residential and commercial hub of the city.

Powai Lake and the presence of greenery make it an attractive residential destination for executives. Sanjay Gandhi National Park in the north, Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JV Green) in the west and L.B.S. connected to the east.

Besides IIT Bombay, it houses educational institutions like Podar International School, Hiranandani Foundation School, Bombay Scottish School, and Gopal Sharma Memorial School. Dr. L. H. Hiranandani Hospital is an outstanding health facility in the region. Galleria Shopping Mall and R City Mall are positioned within a few minutes of the locality. It is properly connected to the rest of the town through major roads like the Eastern Express Highway, Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road and Lal Bahadur Shastri Road. Kanjurmarg railway station is the closest railway station to the Central Line of the Mumbai suburban railway network. Sakinaka Subway Station is just a few kilometers from the locality.

Powai itself houses several office complexes such as the Hiranandani Business Park, Hiranandani Kensington SEZ and other standalone buildings by companies including Crisil, Bayer, TCS, Cognizant, Nomura, Schindler India Pvt. Ltd. and Deloitte. Bandra Kurla Complex is 50 minutes away from Powai, while the commercial centre is 40 minutes away from Andheri East.
